York Music Therapy supports individuals by Bringing Quality to Life! We are unique beings and need space to explore our individuality. The language of music is internationally recognised to promote well-being and you do not need to have any musical background to benefit from it.

We provide services to a range of clients of all ages and varying needs. We have experience working with, but not limited to, children and adults with autism spectrum conditions, learning difficulties, and for mental health, as well as older adults living with types of dementia, Parkinson's disease, and end of life care.

Grandmother and granddaughter

York Music Therapy nurtures the relationship built between therapist, client, and music in respect of psychodynamic and humanistic underpinnings that hold clients' best interests firmly in mind. We understand that working with multidisciplinary teams can provide the best person-centred care and appreciate guardian input.

Through singing, playing, writing, listening to, discussing, exploring, and improvising music multiple parts of the brain are engaged and this has been shown to maintain and improve attention, emotional regulation, cognition, and communication.
